I am Thankful

Hey there!

I love Thanksgiving… oddly enough it is my favorite holiday. I love the aspect of coming home and all of my family coming to be with each other. I love the food (especially my mom’s stuffing and her pecan pie). I love making the signature drink for the meal. I love reuniting with my friends for a week. But most of all, I love to think about what I am thankful for. I am always the one to want to go around the table and make everyone say what they are thankful for. It reminds us of the good in all of our lives. To me, Thanksgiving is a start of a season filled with joy, gratitude, and love.

So, in the spirit of my favorite holiday, here is my list of what I am thankful for this year:

  • My friends. I am so damn grateful for these people. I am thankful they are always there for me. Whether it is for a shoulder to cry on, to look through their closets to find an outfit to wear out, someone to keep me company, someone to talk through problems and ideas with, I know they are there. I am me because of the people I surround myself with and I will forever be grateful
  • My family. I am so lucky to be close with my family and to feel like I can tell them anything. I know they would move mountains for me and that is the best feeling
  • My dog, Acadia. I love the way her tail thumps on the floor when she sees me
  • My health and the ability to see doctors when I am not well
  • Good food that fills and fuels me
  • The ability to change. I am thankful to not be the same person I was last year, and I am thankful I will not be the same person in a year. Change is good!!!!
  • The ability to travel and see the world and have new experiences
  • Laughter!
  • I am thankful for my mindset. I am thankful I can look back and reflect on myself. I am thankful for my personal growth
  • Thankful for love. Thankful to love and to be loved

I don’t think that I have always been able to reflect on what I am thankful for. I’ll admit… I have not always been the most grateful person. But as I have gotten older, I like to take a moment and stop and smell the flowers. I like to look around and take everything in. I am thankful for who I am, my life, the people who are in it, and the things I get to do.

And that’s the way it goes.
